Welcome!  If you've found Sitting on the Egg, you are probably pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or the partner or loved one of the same.  You deserve applause for seeking education for such a life changing event.  Most women, no matter what advanced degrees, mountains they've climbed, jobs they've landed, or marathons they've run will name giving birth as their highest achievement.  My 99 year old mother-in-law forgets a lot of things, but can tell you the details of the births of her 4 offspring.  The birth-day of this child is a day you will never forget.

Whether you plan to have a natural birth, a medicated birth, cesarean section, or are not sure, in this class you will learn how the body works, how you can have the best and healthiest experience possible.

Why such a long class?  Think about it, your body prepares for 40+ weeks creating this little person.  You'll be in charge of his/her care for probably 20 years.  24 hours of training crammed into 10 short classes seems about right.  We'll have fun, and you'll have a chance to meet other people who are doing just what you are doing.

Classes include nutrition (you'll be amazed how foods can cause or prevent real problems) and healthy choices, partner involvement (a supportive partner is the best pain medicine) and comfort measures, exercise and relaxation, PLUS the education to choose the very best healthcare providers to achieve the delicate balance of safety and what you envision.  People forget that, especially with your first baby, you will be laboring (probably for hours) at home before you arrive at your birth place.  This class is a place to explore what works for you, ask questions, even practice.

The 10-week series is held in my home in North Stamford, CT, which is in Fairfield County, and convenient to Westchester County.

A “no” uttered from the deepest conviction is better and greater than a “yes” merely uttered to please, or what is worse, to avoid trouble.
